McAlister Wins BMW M Endurance Challenge Pole in Daytona

Sean McAlister won the Motul Pole Award in his Carbahn Motorsports with Peregrine Racing BMW M4 GT4 for Friday’s BMW M Endurance Challenge at Daytona, the season opener of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Series. The team had been fastest in the first two practice sessions thanks to a well set up car by the team. Qualifying was about execution and a bit of strategy to utilize the draft.

McAlister’s pole lap was a 1:52.842 a full .8 tenths ahead of second place Owen Trinkler in an Aston Martin Vantage GT4. McAlister was able to smartly tuck in behind another competitor on his two flyer attempts in qualifying in hopes of getting a solid draft around Dayton’a long banking. It worked as planned running a full .4 tenths faster than his best in practice. McAlister pulled into the pits with a few minutes to go as the team had confidence his lap would stick for P1 overall. Other teams took their shot but were unsuccessful giving the #39 Carbahn Motorsports with Peregrine Racing BMW M4 GT4 the pole for the race.

Tune in to watch as the race goes green at 1:45pm ET Friday, January 26th and is available to stream live on Peacock Premium!
